GPHG ACADEMY 2022 MEMBER – ALI NAEL

The Academy of the GPHG was established in 2020 to forward the mission of the foundation, which is to highlight and award the most remarkable contemporary creations in its annual competition. To establish a system that is recognized and accepted, the Academy was created and invites experienced men and women who believe in the common destiny of watchmaking to take part in the various stages of the watch selection. The Academy is therefore a division that preserves neutrality, independence and universality in the nomination and awarding of watches in GPHG’s competition.

Being accepted as a member of the Academy highlights Ali’s reputation and character of openness in the watch industry. As a vintage watch collector himself, Ali has always remained neutral and keeps an open mind even towards contemporary timepieces. Ali is known to be supportive of independent watchmaking as in his own words; these crafts represented the watchmaker’s purist form of their vision and inspirations.

Ali is now part of a group comprising of experienced individuals who are significant stakeholders in the key watchmaking-related sectors, divided into colleges and forming a vast network of ambassadors worldwide. As a member of the Academy, Ali’s mission includes the proposal of eligible watches alongside traditional brand entries. He also need to be involved in the various votes to determine the winners in an impartial and unbiased manner, all for the purpose of keeping the art of watchmaking alive universally.

I have always been supportive of the GPHG’s purpose and I am very honoured to be part of this organization now. I am actually very eager to see great work of horology be selected and awarded rightfully. This is a strong encouragement to the watchmaking industry as a whole, as much as it is to the watchmaker himself.

The establishment of A & N Luxury Group and Cultured Watch in 2022 is a strong testament to Ali’s belief and interest in independent watchmaking. Cultured Watch is an independent watch retailer and distributor with the sole mission of forwarding the independent spirit in watchmaking.
