On this piece is a unique signature at the case back; one that belongs to Ms. Alma Arlene Davis. Alma Arlene Davis (1910-1964) is a world famous pilot who got her flying license in 1931 and became the first private pilot to receive an instrument rating and the first female pilot to earn her 4M qualification to fly multi-engined aircrafts. Movado was established in 1881 once the Founder, Achille Ditesheim completed his horological studies in Switzerland. The Maison grew quickly to a strength of 80 in a couple of years, exceeding that of LeCoultre and Audemars Piguet. Movado’s history and rich heritage is mostly overlooked today but the Maison produces some of the most iconic Chronograph, with the first from the 1930s.
